CARPL.ai Secures $10M to Expand Global AI Healthcare Platform

San Francisco-based healthtech firm CARPL.ai has raised $10 million in a Series A round led by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group’s private-sector arm. Existing investor Stellaris Venture Partners also participated. The fresh funding brings CARPL.ai’s total to $16 million and will be used to enhance its AI platform, build new products, and expand sales and support teams across North America, Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region.

One platform to manage many AI tools

Hospitals face growing pressure to deploy AI in medical imaging, but integrating many separate tools is complex and costly. CARPL.ai offers a single enterprise platform that connects a hospital’s imaging systems to more than 300 AI applications from over 100 vendors. This approach reduces integration effort and centralises management, monitoring and security.

Founder and CEO Dr. Vidur Mahajan says the company began with radiology but plans to extend into pathology, genomics, general medicine and AI-assisted surgery. The long-term aim is to be the primary platform that enables safe, scalable AI adoption across clinical specialties.

Regulatory approvals and real-world use

CARPL.ai cleared key regulatory hurdles in 2024. In May it received US FDA 510(k) clearance for its enterprise imaging platform and AI viewer. In October it won the European CE Mark, making it one of the first enterprise AI imaging platforms to meet international safety and quality standards.

The platform is deployed at 30 hospitals and centres globally, including public healthcare systems in India, Singapore, Brazil, Spain and the UAE, and four of the world’s five largest private radiology groups. In Singapore and the UK, hospitals use the platform to validate AI models against clinical results before routine use. In Australia, Qscan Group and I-MED Radiology Network are using the platform to support lung cancer screening and faster AI rollout.

Clinical impact

In one study, CARPL.ai’s tools reviewed 708 chest X-rays previously marked normal by radiologists. The AI flagged 46 cases for review; clinicians confirmed 12 significant missed findings. Such results suggest AI can reduce diagnostic oversight while keeping final decisions with doctors.

Market dynamics and challenges

The market for AI in radiology is set to grow rapidly, but competition is intensifying. Large healthcare technology firms are building integrated imaging solutions and pursuing mergers to offer end-to-end AI services. For CARPL.ai, the opportunity lies in expanding hospital adoption and deepening partnerships while maintaining interoperability, regulatory compliance and clinical trust.
