CARS24 Acquires CarInfo to Expand Vehicle Data Services and Strengthen Automotive Platform

CARS24 has acquired vehicle-information platform CarInfo, marking a strategic move to broaden its services beyond used-vehicle transactions and engage owners throughout the vehicle ownership lifecycle. The deal, which also includes BikeInfo, aims to integrate compliance and information tools that millions of Indian vehicle owners use regularly.

What CarInfo and BikeInfo offer

CarInfo provides consolidated access to registration details, insurance and pollution certificate status, FASTag information, pending traffic challans and other ownership-related records. Its user-friendly interface and accurate data have made it a trusted tool for vehicle owners across India. BikeInfo, a companion app focused on two-wheelers, offers similar capabilities tailored to bike owners.

Both platforms will continue to operate independently after the acquisition, with their existing teams managing day-to-day operations to ensure continuity for their combined user base.

Strategic rationale for CARS24

Founded as a marketplace to help owners sell pre-owned cars, CARS24 has diversified into inspections, RC transfers, financing and other ancillary services. The purchase of CarInfo strengthens the company’s shift from a transaction-led model to a full-stack automotive services ecosystem.

Unlike buying or selling—which are episodic—activities such as checking documents, renewing insurance or tracking fines happen repeatedly. By adding CarInfo’s information and compliance capabilities, CARS24 can maintain year-round engagement with users and position itself to offer cross-sold services like insurance, loans and vehicle inspections.

Scale and deal details

Regulatory filings and industry sources indicate the transaction value could be around Rs 118 crore, though the companies have not confirmed the figure publicly. CarInfo reportedly serves over 12 million monthly active users, offering CARS24 access to a large, engaged audience that routinely interacts with vehicle data and compliance tools.

Implications for vehicle owners and the market

Indian vehicle owners frequently navigate multiple government portals and fragmented information, which can lead to missed renewals or unpaid fines. Integrating CarInfo’s data and technology with CARS24’s service network could reduce these friction points and make ownership tasks more transparent and convenient.

The acquisition is consistent with broader industry trends in the used-car and mobility sectors, where firms are focusing on retention, recurring engagement and monetisation through data-driven services.

The road ahead

By combining transactional capability with information-led services, CARS24 is positioning itself as a one-stop digital destination for vehicle owners. The integration of CarInfo and BikeInfo could deepen customer engagement, expand service offerings and support CARS24’s long-term growth as competition in India’s automotive services market intensifies.
