Exponent Energy Seeks $20 Million Extension to Series B to Scale EV Charging in India

Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy will raise $20 million (about ₹165 crore) in an extended Series B round, underscoring rising investor confidence in India’s electric mobility sector as demand for faster, more efficient charging solutions—particularly for commercial vehicles—accelerates.

Fast-charging technology and product ecosystem

Founded in 2020, Exponent Energy has developed a proprietary rapid-charging system that the company says can charge electric vehicles from 0–100% in roughly 15 minutes. Its full-stack offering comprises battery packs, charging stations and proprietary connectors engineered to operate as an integrated ecosystem.

This integrated approach is designed to cut charging time, reduce battery degradation and ease range anxiety—factors that are critical for commercial operators whose vehicles face high utilisation and tight turnaround schedules.

Focus on commercial mobility and last-mile logistics

Exponent primarily targets commercial EVs such as electric three-wheelers, which are heavily used in India’s last-mile delivery and intra-city logistics. Faster charging and denser infrastructure can significantly reduce vehicle downtime, improving fleet economics for delivery services and fleet operators.

Use of proceeds and expansion strategy

The fresh capital will be deployed to scale the company’s fast-charging infrastructure across major Indian cities and to deepen partnerships with OEMs and fleet operators. Exponent plans to build a dense network of fast chargers to support a growing number of commercial EVs and to enhance affordability and accessibility for businesses and driver-partners.

Why investors are watching EV infrastructure

Investor interest in EV-infrastructure startups has grown as India pushes toward cleaner mobility. Startups that can deliver scalable, efficient and cost-effective charging solutions are viewed as essential to accelerating EV adoption, especially in the commercial segment where operational efficiency directly affects profitability.

With the extended Series B funding, Exponent Energy is positioned to expand its footprint and play a substantive role in shaping India’s EV charging landscape as demand for rapid, reliable charging rises.
