Google-Backed Mobility Startup Namma Yatri Secures New Funding to Expand Driver-Centric Ride Ecosystem

Namma Yatri, a Bengaluru-based mobility startup, has raised fresh capital from existing investors to bolster its driver-first ride-hailing platform, strengthen technology capabilities and accelerate expansion into additional Indian cities. The funding reflects renewed investor confidence in the company’s subscription-led model and its focus on driver earnings and transparent bookings.

Funding to support growth and technology

Existing backers participated in the latest financing round, though the company has not disclosed the amount raised. The new capital is earmarked for technology upgrades, product development and geographic expansion as Namma Yatri deepens its presence in India’s competitive urban mobility market.

Previously, the startup secured roughly $11 million in a pre-Series A round led by Blume Ventures and Antler, with participation from Google. That injection of funds helped Namma Yatri scale operations, enhance its platform for drivers and riders, and increase overall ride volume.

Driver-centric ride-hailing model

Operating under Moving Tech — a venture that traces its roots to payments infrastructure firm Juspay — Namma Yatri offers bookings for auto-rickshaws and taxis through a platform designed around drivers’ interests.

Instead of charging commission on every trip, the company uses a subscription model in which drivers pay a fixed fee. This structure is intended to improve driver take-home pay compared with traditional percentage-based commission systems and to provide pricing predictability for driver partners.

The platform is built on open digital infrastructure and aligns with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), supporting interoperability of digital mobility services and integration with broader e-commerce and logistics ecosystems in India.

Expansion plans across Indian cities

Launched in Bengaluru in 2022, Namma Yatri has rapidly scaled to multiple cities and facilitated millions of rides while growing its driver and user base. With the fresh funding, the company aims to fortify product capabilities, integrate additional transport modes and enter more urban centres.

As competition intensifies among ride-hailing players in India, Namma Yatri positions itself as a homegrown alternative emphasising transparency, affordability and improved earnings for drivers — attributes it hopes will attract both riders and driver partners across the country.
