Pocket FM has appointed Lalit Gangwar as Chief Operating Officer to lead its international expansion. He will oversee global operations, growth strategy, monetisation and operational execution as the audio platform moves to deepen its presence in overseas markets.
Proven leader with company roots
Gangwar has been with Pocket FM since its early days and played a central role in building the product, teams and market strategy. As COO, his priorities will include scaling operations, strengthening systems and assembling teams to support sustained global growth.
Track record in India and the US
In India, Gangwar helped design the company’s initial growth strategy that contributed to rapid user adoption. Pocket FM scaled to more than 150 million users within its first year under the early growth plans he helped implement.
Later, as US Country Head, he led the platform’s entry into the American market. The US business grew from ground zero to an annual revenue run rate exceeding $25 million during his tenure. Prior to Pocket FM, Gangwar worked at Healthkart, Zomato and Dineout, gaining experience across growth and operations functions.
Product, creators and technology focus
Pocket FM positions itself as an AI-first entertainment company and reports more than 250 million listeners globally. The platform records over 2.2 billion minutes of listening every month and has built an active creator community.
More than 300,000 writers contribute to the platform, producing over 100,000 audio series. A notable cohort of creators earns substantial incomes, with many reportedly making over ₹1 lakh per month.
The company is deploying AI tools to accelerate content creation and to translate and adapt Indian stories for global audiences. These initiatives are presented as core elements of its international growth strategy.
Leadership change in communications
Rahul Nag, who managed brand and communications for four years, has stepped down. The company did not provide further details on his successor.
