Xovian Aerospace, a Bengaluru-based spacetech startup, has raised $2 million (approximately ₹16–18 crore) in a fresh funding round led by investor Ashish Kacholia. The capital will accelerate development of AI‑native radio frequency (RF) satellite systems as India’s private spacetech sector attracts stronger investor interest.
Funds earmarked for RF satellite systems and AI integration
The company said the new proceeds will be channelled primarily into core technology development for RF satellite systems, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence into communication and data satellites. Xovian aims to build infrastructure for next‑generation satellites that can offer more intelligent signal processing, autonomous operations and higher resilience in contested or bandwidth‑constrained environments.
This round follows an earlier pre‑seed raise targeted at building AI‑native RF satellite infrastructure, reflecting a multi‑phase plan to scale technology and manufacturing capabilities for commercial and defence applications.
Investor confidence in India’s deeptech startups
Ashish Kacholia’s participation — notable because he has historically been active in public markets — signals growing interest from high‑net‑worth individuals in early‑stage, innovation‑driven companies. Such backing underscores a broader shift in investor appetite toward deeptech and space startups that combine hardware, software and AI.
Xovian’s product focus spans defence, communications and space research. Market demand for satellite‑based intelligence, connectivity and autonomous data services is rising, creating opportunities for specialised firms to meet both civilian and government needs.
Context: India’s evolving spacetech ecosystem
India’s private spacetech ecosystem has expanded rapidly in recent years, aided by policy reforms, streamlined private‑sector participation frameworks and growing commercial demand for satellite services. Startups are increasingly pursuing complex use cases such as satellite communications, earth observation analytics and AI‑driven space applications.
With the fresh capital, Xovian Aerospace plans to scale its engineering and production efforts, positioning itself to contribute to India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for space technology innovation.
